Experience: Higher Education



Operational supervisor of a nascent center (Duke University's Center for Politics) that was committed to elevating students’ civic knowledge and engagement. Established a three-pronged brand strategy to connect Duke’s mission and values with those of the center and of the students, thus solidifying the newly formed center’s standing as an indispensable campus fixture. Created and implemented the nationally innovative Duke Votes initiative, leading to a 114% boost in 2018 general election voter turnout (vs. 2014) and a 2020 state primary turnout 300%+ higher than the statewide average. Authored and/or edited all marketing content, press releases, and other collateral. Co-developed fundraising proposals that generated millions of dollars in grants and long-term sustainability. Produced and hosted two student-focused weekly podcasts that yielded thousands of downloads. Taught two U.S. presidency short courses, amplifying results through creative, viral social media campaigns.

Guest lecturer at higher education institutions across the country, including American University, Belmont University, the University of California (Washington Center), Charleston Southern University, Duke University, Hope College, and Morgan State University.
